Sungrow, a global leader in photovoltaic (PV) inverter and energy storage system (ESS) solutions, has announced a major expansion of its European footprint with the establishment of its first manufacturing facility in Europe, located in Wałbrzych, Lower Silesia, Poland.

The €230 million investment will support the development of a 65,400-square-metre advanced manufacturing plant, which is scheduled to become operational within the next 12 months. The facility is expected to create approximately 400 new jobs, strengthening regional expertise and contributing to Europe’s growing clean energy manufacturing ecosystem.

The new factory will have an annual production capacity of up to 20 GW of inverters and 12.5 GWh of energy storage systems, incorporating state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and stringent quality assurance standards to ensure high levels of performance, safety, and reliability.

“This new facility marks an important milestone for Sungrow in Europe. It enables us to be closer to our customers, respond more effectively to market needs, and strengthens supply-chain resilience while creating skilled employment,” said Shawn Shi, President of Sungrow Europe.

The plant is expected to play a strategic role in reinforcing Europe’s clean energy value chain by shortening delivery timelines, improving logistics efficiency, and enhancing regional supply-chain stability.

Marcin Lerner, President of the Management Board of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone, said the investment highlights Poland’s rising strategic importance in Europe’s renewable energy manufacturing sector. He noted that Lower Silesia’s strong industrial base, access to technical universities, skilled workforce, and supportive public policy framework make it a highly attractive destination for advanced clean energy technologies.

Sungrow said Lower Silesia’s deep expertise in electronics, automation, and advanced manufacturing made it the ideal location for its new factory. The company plans to prioritise local hiring, reinforcing its commitment to community development and workforce integration.

Active in Europe since 2005, Sungrow has significantly expanded its regional presence, now operating 25 local representative offices, two R&D centres, 26 warehouses, and three training and technology competence centres, with its European headquarters based in Munich, Germany.
