NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, is set to organise the Indian Power Stations Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Conference 2026 (IPS 2026) from February 13 to 15, 2026, bringing together key stakeholders from across the power sector for three days of dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.

The conference will be inaugurated by Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Power and leading public sector undertakings (PSUs) in the energy sector.

The annual event commemorates the commissioning of NTPC’s first thermal power unit at Singrauli in 1982, a milestone that laid the foundation for the company’s journey toward operational excellence in India’s power sector. Over the years, IPS has evolved into a premier platform that brings together policymakers, power plant operators, manufacturers, researchers, academicians, and industry professionals to exchange insights and collectively chart the future of power generation in the country.

The theme of IPS 2026, ‘Optimising Thermal Generation with Quality & Reliability’, underscores the continued importance of thermal power in ensuring energy security and grid stability, even as India advances toward a cleaner and more diversified energy mix. The conference will focus on strengthening operational quality and reliability through shared learning and real-world best practices.

The three-day programme will feature technical sessions and expert deliberations on a wide range of topics, including flexible plant operations, safety, asset management, water and fuel management, digital applications, efficiency enhancement, and emerging energy pathways such as nuclear, hydrogen, renewable energy, and energy storage solutions.

IPS 2026 has received an overwhelming response from the industry, with over 466 authors submitting technical papers showcasing the latest advancements, innovations, and best practices in power generation. Of these, 107 technical papers from organizations, OEMs, independent power producers (IPPs), government regulatory and statutory bodies, universities, EPRI, and leading research institutes have been selected for presentation during the conference.

The exhibition will also feature models and performance showcases of various NTPC power stations, represented through their respective regional headquarters.

As NTPC continues to expand its portfolio while prioritising sustainability and innovation, IPS 2026 aims to strengthen operational excellence, foster industry collaboration, and reinforce the sector’s commitment to reliable and responsible power generation.

Currently, NTPC operates over 87 GW of installed capacity, with 32 GW under construction, and has set a target to scale up to 149 GW, including 60 GW of renewable energy capacity, by 2032. The company’s diversified portfolio spans thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power projects, supporting its mission to deliver reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity across India.
