Narendra Modi has lauded the milestone of 30 lakh households adopting rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, calling it a significant achievement in India’s clean energy transition.
In a statement issued on February 23, 2026, the Prime Minister described the development as a commendable step in strengthening the country’s sustainable energy landscape. He congratulated beneficiaries who have embraced rooftop solar power, noting that the initiative is helping households enhance savings, promote sustainability and achieve greater energy self-reliance.
Responding to a post by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, the Prime Minister emphasised that the PM Surya Ghar scheme is an integral part of the government’s broader strategy to build an energy-secure, green and future-ready India.
The rooftop solar initiative aims to accelerate residential solar adoption nationwide, contributing to India’s renewable energy targets while reducing dependence on conventional power sources.
