Sunsure Energy, an Indian independent power producer backed by Partners Group AG, has signed solar power purchase agreements (PPAs) totalling 8 MWp with South Korean automotive companies to supply renewable energy to their manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu.

Under the agreements, Sunsure Energy will supply solar power to Daeseung Autoparts India Pvt Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of Daeseung Group, and Ilgahng Automotive, another automotive components manufacturer from the same group.

According to the company, Daeseung Autoparts India will receive around 8 million kWh of solar electricity annually from Sunsure Energyโ€™s 75-MWp solar plant located in Ilayangudi. The renewable power will be used to operate the companyโ€™s manufacturing facility in Kanchipuram.

Meanwhile, Ilgahng Automotive will procure approximately 4.7 million kWh of solar power each year from the same solar project.

Commenting on the partnership, Shin Sangki, Managing Director of Daeseung Autoparts India, stated that sourcing nearly 60% of the companyโ€™s electricity from solar energy will help significantly reduce its carbon footprint while improving resilience against future energy cost volatility.
