TrueRE Oriana Power, one of India’s largest fully integrated renewable-energy companies, has secured an EPC contract for a 234 MW grid-tied floating solar PV project in the state of Jharkhand. The project has been awarded by Damodar Valley Corporation and will be developed at the Maithon Dam Reservoir. With its scale and design, this will be the largest floating solar project in Jharkhand and among the biggest floating solar installations in the country.

The tender was awarded through a competitive bidding process initiated by Damodar Valley Corporation as part of its efforts to strengthen decarbonisation and secure long-term clean-energy capacity. Once completed and operational, the project is expected to generate nearly 500 million units of renewable electricity each year. This output will help reduce carbon emissions by up to four lakh tonnes annually, supporting broader national sustainability and climate-action goals. The project also includes a 10-year operations and maintenance commitment, ensuring long-term performance, reliability and oversight.

Speaking about this achievement, Parveen Jangra, Founder and Chief Technical & Operating Officer of TrueRE Oriana Power, highlighted that the project marks an important milestone in India’s floating solar journey. He explained that winning the tender showcases the company’s strong engineering capabilities, disciplined project execution, and experience in handling complex renewable-energy infrastructure. He also emphasised the strategic importance of floating solar, noting that it enables efficient use of water surfaces while supporting large-scale decarbonisation efforts across the energy sector.

TrueRE Oriana Power has already established itself as a leader in floating solar technology. The company previously developed the first-ever floating solar power plant in the state of Rajasthan, positioning itself early in this emerging segment. With this experience, it continues to expand its footprint by taking on more such projects across the country. For the Jharkhand project, TrueRE Oriana Power will deploy a custom anchoring and mooring system designed to withstand river currents, maintain the alignment of the floating arrays and ensure long-term structural stability.
