As India targets a reduction of one billion tonnes of carbon emissions by 2030 under the Paris Agreement, leading renewable energy advisory firm Sunkonnect has announced plans to eliminate up to 200 million tonnes of CO₂ within the same timeframe. This initiative represents a significant contribution, aligning with 20% of the government’s national carbon reduction target.
Sunkonnect is extending its expertise beyond major metro cities, bringing advanced consulting, digital energy management, and international certification support to emerging urban centres and industrial hubs. The company focuses on greening infrastructure, enhancing energy efficiency, and fostering climate resilience in regions where India’s next wave of growth and emissions is expected.
Dr. Avishek Kumar, Founder of Sunkonnect, said, “Infrastructure development in India’s fast-growing cities presents both a challenge and an opportunity. By aligning our work with the government’s vision and focusing on emerging regions, we aim to help India achieve its climate goals while building a resilient and prosperous future.”
Sunkonnect offers services including greenhouse gas accounting, climate consulting, net-zero roadmaps, and certification support such as IGBC, WELL, and LEED. By deploying AI-powered building management systems and IoT-based energy optimisation, the company helps clients achieve up to 25% energy savings and 40% reduction in operational costs, directly advancing national priorities.
Rohit Kumar Sikkewal, Sustainability and Climate Change Solution Expert at Sunkonnect, highlighted the company’s recent role as a carbon-neutral partner for the Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC) at the 9th PMO Awards, where it calculated and offset all event-related emissions through credible carbon credits. “This exemplifies how public-private collaboration can mainstream climate action and strengthen India’s sustainability leadership,” he said.
Through research, on-ground surveys, and engagement with policymakers, Sunkonnect is building awareness and consensus around environmental challenges in critical sectors including steel, infrastructure, and hospitality. With multiple projects underway across commercial buildings, academic institutions, and MSME clusters, the firm plans to expand its climate and sustainability solutions into a dedicated entity, underscoring its commitment to measurable, sector-wide impact.
