NTPC Green Energy Limited, a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has invited bids for a major renewable energy project in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The project will be developed on behalf of NTPC UP Green Energy Limited and includes setting up a 100 MW ground-mounted solar PV plant along with a 50 MW/200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The bidding process will follow a domestic competitive route with a single-stage, two-envelope system and a reverse auction.

The scope of work for the solar project is broad and covers almost all aspects of project execution. It includes site grading, topographical surveys, detailed design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar plant. Bidders are required to use a fixed-tilt tracker system. The work also involves building inverter rooms, extra high voltage (EHV) switchyards, internal roads, and installing a SCADA system for monitoring and control. In addition, the contractor must provide operation and maintenance services for the solar plant for a period of three years.

For the battery energy storage system, the selected contractor will have to deliver a complete turnkey solution. The BESS must have a design life of 25 years, and the batteries should support at least 10,000 charge-discharge cycles. The project also sets clear performance targets. The system must achieve a minimum monthly round-trip efficiency of 80% and ensure at least 98% monthly availability. Compared to the solar plant, the storage system requires a longer operation and maintenance commitment of 15 years.

The project also includes strict technical and performance requirements to ensure reliability. The contractor must guarantee at least 92% dispatchable capacity at the point of interconnection throughout the 15-year BESS operation period. A hybrid Energy Management System (EMS) will also be required to manage and integrate both the solar and battery components, ensuring proper coordination with grid requirements and scheduling.

According to the schedule shared in the tender notice, the invitation for bids was issued on March 21, 2026. The sale of bidding documents will begin on April 3, 2026, and continue until April 17, 2026. The last date for submission of bids is May 4, 2026, at 3:00 PM, and the bids will be opened on the same day at 3:30 PM.
