Tata Power-DDL Earns A+ Rating, Secures 2nd Rank In India’s Discom Consumer Service Rankings

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), a major electricity distribution company serving nearly 9 million people in North Delhi, has been awarded the highest ‘A+’ rating by the Ministry of Power under the Consumer Service Rating of Discoms (CSRD) framework for the financial year 2024–25. This recognition highlights the company’s strong performance in delivering reliable and efficient services to its consumers.

In addition to securing the top rating, Tata Power-DDL has also retained its position as the second-ranked utility in the country in the Distribution Utility Ranking (DUR). The company maintained this rank in both the urban category and the overall utility category, reflecting its consistent performance across different service parameters.

The detailed evaluation shows that the discom achieved an ‘A+’ rating in key areas such as operational reliability, as well as fault rectification and grievance redressal. It also secured ‘A’ ratings in connection with other services, along with metering, billing, and collection. These scores indicate a balanced and strong performance across all major aspects of consumer service.

The CSRD framework, introduced in 2021 by the Ministry of Power, aims to assess and improve the quality of services provided by power distribution companies across India. It sets clear benchmarks for utilities in areas such as accurate billing, timely resolution of consumer complaints, and transparent tariff practices. The framework plays an important role in ensuring accountability and encouraging discoms to enhance their service standards.

The Distribution Utility Ranking, now in its second edition, is another key initiative that evaluates the overall performance of utilities. It focuses on operational efficiency, financial health, and customer service delivery, providing a comprehensive view of how discoms are functioning in different regions.

Commenting on the achievement, Dwijadas Basak, CEO of Tata Power-DDL, said that the company is continuously working to improve its services in line with rising consumer expectations. He added that the recognition reflects the dedication and efforts of the company’s teams and will further motivate them to enhance service quality.

The latest rating and ranking reaffirm Tata Power-DDL’s position as one of India’s leading power distribution utilities.
