GAIL (India) Limited has signed contract agreements with TUSCO Limited for the development of a 600 MW solar power project at TUSCOโs Solar Park in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant step in the companyโs transition towards cleaner energy solutions.
The agreements were signed by Parivesh Chugh, Executive Director (SD & Renewables), GAIL, and Anil Tyagi, CEO of TUSCO Limited, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations, including R K Singhal, Director (Business Development), GAIL.
The project will be developed alongside a 550 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), enhancing grid reliability and ensuring stable power supply. The generated solar power will primarily be utilized to meet the captive energy requirements of GAILโs petrochemical plant at Pata in Auraiya district, Uttar Pradesh.
Additionally, the project will support rising energy demand driven by the electrification of gas-based equipment and the development of compressed biogas (CBG) plants across the state.
Speaking on the development, R K Singhal stated that the project reflects GAILโs commitment to diversifying into low-carbon and sustainable energy solutions. He added that the initiative also reinforces the companyโs strategy to expand its operational footprint in Uttar Pradesh.
The project aligns with GAILโs broader efforts to integrate renewable energy into its portfolio while supporting Indiaโs transition towards a more sustainable energy ecosystem.
