The Indian stock market witnessed a mixed trading session on October 30, 2026, with the benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closing higher by 0.4 percent at 74,459.5. Despite the positive performance of the broader market, renewable energy and power-related stocks largely traded in negative territory, with several companies recording notable declines across the BSE and NSE. The session reflected mixed investor sentiment, with selective buying in a few counters while selling pressure affected several prominent green energy and battery-related companies.
Among the major gainers, GAIL emerged as one of the strongest performers in the energy segment, rising 2.1 percent to close at ₹168.55 on the BSE and ₹168.25 on the NSE. EKI Energy Services also recorded a marginal increase of 0.5 percent, maintaining a positive position during the trading session.
However, Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy faced significant selling pressure, declining 6.2 percent to emerge among the major losers in the renewable energy segment. Inox Wind also witnessed a sharp correction of 6.0 percent, with its share price closing at ₹55.50 on the BSE and ₹55.41 on the NSE. The decline highlighted continued weakness in selected renewable energy stocks despite the broader market’s upward movement.
Adani Green Energy shares also closed lower, declining 0.64 percent on the BSE to ₹1,295.35 and 0.84 percent on the NSE to ₹1,296.00. Amara Raja Energy & Mobility registered a decline of 2.63 percent, ending at ₹685.50 on the BSE and ₹685.70 on the NSE. Borosil Renewables slipped 1.98 percent to ₹386.00, while Exide Industries declined 2.52 percent to ₹336.00 on the BSE and ₹335.45 on the NSE.
Other energy-related counters also experienced selling pressure. Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) dropped 3.80 percent to ₹101.40, while Insolation Energy declined 2.68 percent to close at ₹68.90 on the BSE and ₹68.92 on the NSE. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) recorded a relatively modest decline of 1.04 percent, closing at ₹128.80 on the BSE.
JSW Energy shares also ended the session lower, falling 1.96 percent to ₹500.00 on the BSE and 2.05 percent to ₹499.55 on the NSE.
Overall, the October 30 trading session reflected divergent movements between the broader equity market and the renewable energy sector. While the Sensex maintained its positive momentum, selling pressure across several green energy and power stocks indicated cautious investor participation and selective profit-booking.
