NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has taken another step forward in expanding its renewable energy capacity. In a formal disclosure, the company announced the start of commercial operations for part of its solar project in Rajasthan.
The company confirmed that 150 MW of solar capacity became operational on April 18, 2026. This is part of a larger 300 MW solar power project being developed in the state. The project is handled by Project Sixteen Renewable Power Private Limited, which is a step-down subsidiary of the joint venture ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited.
With this addition, NTPC Green Energy Limited has increased its overall installed capacity. Before this development, the groupโs total commercial capacity stood at 10,126.40 MW. After adding the newly operational 150 MW, the total capacity has now reached 10,276.40 MW. This marks a steady increase in the companyโs renewable energy portfolio.
The disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. This regulation requires listed companies to inform stock exchanges about important developments in their operations. The official communication was signed by Deepak C. S., Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of NGEL.
This progress also reflects the growing partnership between NTPC and ONGC in the renewable energy sector. Through their joint venture, both companies are working to expand clean energy capacity in India. The commissioning of this solar capacity in Rajasthan supports Indiaโs efforts to increase the share of renewable energy and reduce dependence on conventional power sources.
