Greenvolt Next UK, part of the Greenvolt Group, has completed a new rooftop solar installation at Marq Logistics’ Magna Park Lutterworth site in Leicestershire, expanding its partnership with the logistics real estate operator across Europe.

The project was officially inaugurated on May 28, 2026, during an event attended by representatives from Greenvolt Next UK, Marq Logistics, and Bleckmann, along with Alberto Costa, Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire.

The solar installation was deployed on a major distribution centre recently leased by Bleckmann, a logistics provider specializing in the fashion and lifestyle sector. Located within Magna Park Lutterworth, one of the United Kingdom’s largest logistics parks, the facility was developed to support Bleckmann’s expanding UK operations and has achieved BREEAM Excellent certification and an EPC A+ rating for sustainability and energy performance.

As part of the project, Greenvolt Next UK installed 1,310 photovoltaic panels across the facility’s rooftop, delivering an installed capacity of 589 kWp. The system is expected to generate approximately 518 MWh of renewable electricity annually and reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 235 tonnes of CO₂ each year. The project is designed to lower dependence on grid-supplied electricity while improving the site’s energy efficiency and sustainability performance.

The installation follows Greenvolt Next UK’s recent completion of a 1.2 MW rooftop solar project at another Marq Logistics facility in Milton Keynes, further strengthening the companies’ collaboration in the logistics sector.

Speaking at the inauguration, Alberto Costa, Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, said the investment demonstrates how clean energy deployment can support both economic growth and environmental responsibility. He noted that the project highlights the logistics sector’s commitment to sustainability while helping future-proof operations through renewable energy adoption.

Owen Power, Chief Executive Officer of Greenvolt Next UK, said rooftop solar enables distribution centres to generate electricity on-site, reduce exposure to energy price volatility, and lower carbon emissions without disrupting daily operations. He added that businesses across the UK and Europe are increasingly adopting decentralized renewable energy solutions to enhance competitiveness and operational resilience.

Bruce Topley, Managing Director UK at Marq Logistics, stated that the company remains focused on delivering logistics facilities that support customer sustainability objectives while improving operational efficiency. He described rooftop solar as a practical solution for reducing emissions and strengthening energy resilience across logistics assets.

Tony Brito, Cluster Director at Bleckmann, said the integration of rooftop solar aligns with the company’s commitment to minimizing the environmental impact of its operations. He noted that the project supports the company’s broader sustainability goals while increasing the use of renewable energy at the facility.

Beyond the United Kingdom, Greenvolt Group and Marq Logistics have also partnered in Germany, where they are delivering ten rooftop solar projects with a combined capacity of 23 MW across multiple logistics properties, providing tenants with access to on-site renewable electricity.
