AMPIN Energy Secures USD 195 Million for 100 MW Solar-Wind-BESS Project in Andhra Pradesh

AMPIN Energy Transition has achieved financial close on a USD 195 million long-term project finance facility for its 100 MW power purchase agreement (PPA) capacity hybrid renewable energy project in Andhra Pradesh. The project integrates solar, wind and battery energy storage systems (BESS) to provide reliable and dispatchable clean power during peak demand periods.

The financing is aligned with the Green Loan Principles and structured in accordance with the Equator Principles, reflecting the project’s focus on sustainable financing and environmental and social governance standards. The integration of renewable generation with battery storage is expected to help address intermittency, improve grid reliability and support long-term energy security as India’s electricity demand and grid requirements evolve.

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) and Rabobank acted as Mandated Lead Arrangers, Green Loan Coordinators and Joint Structuring Banks for the transaction. HSF Kramer, JSA Advocates, Aurora Energy Research and Tractebel provided advisory and technical support for the financing.

Pinaki Bhattacharyya, Founder, Managing Director & CEO, AMPIN Energy Transition, said the financial close marks an important milestone for the company and reflects collaboration among the project’s lenders, advisers and other stakeholders. He added that the financing will support the deployment of innovative renewable energy infrastructure and contribute to India’s clean energy ambitions.

Jeanne Soh, Managing Director and Head of Structured Finance Asia Pacific, SMBC, said hybrid renewable energy projects with integrated battery storage will play an important role in improving grid reliability and delivering dispatchable clean power at scale. She added that the transaction demonstrates the continued evolution of sustainable infrastructure financing and SMBC’s commitment to supporting energy security and decarbonisation across the region.

Amardeep Parmar, Managing Director and Head of Project Finance Asia, Rabobank, said the transaction highlights the growing maturity of India’s renewable energy sector and the increasing role of integrated solar, wind and battery storage projects in delivering reliable clean power.

The financial close comes as India’s renewable energy sector increasingly combines technological innovation, complex project engineering and structured financing to support the country’s clean energy transition. Storage-backed hybrid projects are expected to play a growing role in strengthening power system resilience while enabling greater integration of renewable energy into the grid.
