SEIA Elevates Ben Norris to General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs

The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has elevated Ben Norris to serve as the organization’s General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, expanding his responsibilities across legal, governance and regulatory matters.

In his new role, Norris will continue to lead SEIA’s regulatory advocacy before federal and state agencies while also overseeing the organization’s legal and governance functions. His expanded responsibilities come as the U.S. solar and energy storage industries navigate evolving regulatory and policy developments.

SEIA CEO Tim Pawlenty said Norris’ industry and policy expertise, along with his leadership within the organization, makes him well positioned to oversee SEIA’s legal and regulatory work.

Norris joined SEIA in 2021 and currently leads the association’s regulatory affairs team and advocacy efforts on issues affecting the solar and energy storage sectors. His work has covered areas including tax policy, electricity markets, permitting and transmission.

Commenting on his expanded role, Norris said he would focus on ensuring the solar and storage industry maintains a strong voice before regulators while upholding high standards of legal and organizational integrity.

Before joining SEIA, Norris held senior legal and policy positions focused on energy and regulatory matters. In his expanded leadership role, he will oversee both SEIA’s regulatory advocacy and its broader legal and governance activities.
