Vestas Secures 55 MW Wind Turbine Order In Japan With 20-Year Service Agreement

Vestas has announced a new 55 MW wind turbine order in Japan as part of its third-quarter 2026 order intake, strengthening its presence in the Asia-Pacific renewable energy market. The agreement includes the supply of 13 V136-4.2 MW wind turbines, supported by a 20-year Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service agreement.

Under the agreement, Vestas will provide 13 wind turbines with a combined capacity of approximately 55 MW. The project will also benefit from a 20-year AOM 5000 service agreement, covering long-term turbine maintenance and performance optimisation to support operational reliability and energy generation efficiency.

The inclusion of a long-term service agreement reflects the growing emphasis on maintaining turbine availability, reducing operational risks and improving the lifecycle performance of wind energy assets.

The latest order further strengthens Vestas’ position in Japan’s wind energy market, where renewable energy development continues to support the country’s efforts to diversify its electricity generation mix and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

Japan has been expanding its renewable energy sector as part of its broader decarbonisation strategy, with wind power expected to contribute to the development of a more sustainable and resilient electricity system.

The 55 MW project is expected to contribute additional renewable electricity generation capacity once operational, supporting Japan’s clean energy transition and long-term carbon reduction objectives.

The order also highlights continued demand for advanced wind turbine technologies and long-term service solutions across the Asia-Pacific region.

Vestas has not disclosed the project’s customer, location, delivery schedule or expected commissioning timeline.
