Vestas has announced new wind turbine orders totalling 74 MW from WEB Windenergie AG in Austria as part of its third-quarter 2026 order intake. The agreements cover the Maustrenk RI and Spannberg IV Extension wind projects and include long-term Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service agreements to support operational performance and reliability.
The first order covers the 50 MW Maustrenk RI wind project, for which Vestas will supply eight V162-6.2 MW wind turbines. The project will be supported by a 25-year AOM 5000 service agreement, providing long-term maintenance and performance optimisation to enhance turbine availability and operational efficiency.
The second order involves the 24 MW Spannberg IV Extension wind project, also being developed by WEB Windenergie AG. The project will feature four V162 wind turbines, comprising two V162-5.6 MW units and two V162-6.2 MW units. The agreement also includes a 25-year AOM 5000 service contract to support long-term turbine performance and maintenance requirements.
According to the announced schedule, turbine deliveries for the Spannberg IV Extension project are planned to begin in the first quarter of 2028, with commissioning scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of the same year. The supplied information does not specify a separate delivery or commissioning timeline for the Maustrenk RI project.
The latest orders strengthen Vestas’ collaboration with WEB Windenergie AG and reflect continued investment in Austria’s onshore wind energy sector. Both projects will utilise Vestas’ V162 turbine technology, designed to support efficient renewable electricity generation across varying wind conditions.
The inclusion of 25-year service agreements for both developments highlights the importance of long-term asset management in wind power projects. Through its AOM 5000 service programme, Vestas will provide maintenance and operational support aimed at maximising turbine availability, improving energy production and maintaining reliable performance throughout the contracted period.
Austria continues to expand its renewable energy infrastructure as part of its efforts to strengthen energy security, reduce carbon emissions and increase the contribution of clean electricity to its national energy mix. Wind energy remains an important component of this transition, alongside hydropower and solar energy.
The Maustrenk RI and Spannberg IV Extension projects are expected to contribute additional renewable electricity generation capacity once operational, supporting Austria’s broader energy transition and decarbonisation objectives.
With a combined announced capacity of 74 MW, the two orders further strengthen Vestas’ presence in the Austrian wind energy market and reinforce its partnership with WEB Windenergie AG in developing renewable energy infrastructure across the country.
