India’s Solar Capacity at 40.09GW: MNRE


In its monthly summary MNRE has notified that a total of 1463.31 MW of RE capacity was added during the month of March 2021 taking the cumulative installed RE capacity to 94.43 GW. This includes 40.09 GW of Solar; 39.24 GW of Wind; 10.31 GW of Bio-power and 4.79 GW of Small Hydro capacity. Projects of 49.7 GW capacity are at various stages of implementation and projects of 25.91 GW are under various stages of bidding. An expenditure of Rs 3096.73 crore has been incurred up to March 31, 2021, which is around 86.24 percent of the total Revised Estimate (RE) for the Ministry for the year 2020-21.

SECI Issues RfS for 1.2 GW of ISTS-Connected Wind-Solar Hybrid Projects

SECI has issued RfS document for Setting up of 1200 MW ISTS-Connected Wind-Solar Hybrid Power Projects in India on “Build Own Operate” basis and selling the Hybrid Power to SECI. SECI shall enter into PPA with the HPDs for a period of 25 years from the date as per the provisions of PPA. The bidders will be free to avail fiscal incentives like Accelerated Depreciation, Concessional Custom Duties, Tax Holidays, etc. available for such projects as per prevailing conditions. The minimum bid capacity shall be 50 MW, with at least 50 MW of project capacity being proposed at each Project site, and maximum bid capacity under shall be 1200 MW. The last date to submit the bids is May 28, 2021. The pre-bid meeting will be held on April 26.

JBVNL Floats 25 MWp Rooftop Solar Tender in Jharkhand

Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited, Jharkhand invites E-tender for bid from eligible Bidders for Empanelement/ Selection of agencies for supply, installation and commissioning of 25 MWp Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Power project (Gross Metering) under the MNRE Phase-II Scheme. Scope of Work: Development of 25 MWp rooftop solar power projects in premises of residential consumers of JBVNL through RESCO mode & procurement of power by JBVNL on long term basis by gross metering through tariff based competitive bidding process

India May Kick Start Hydrogen Ecosystem Development: Dharmendra Pradhan

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that India is looking towards kick-starting the hydrogen ecosystem development. Addressing a function on Hydrogen Economy, New Delhi Dialogue – 2021, Mr Pradhan said that the government has taken various initiatives with respect to the greater use of hydrogen in India’s energy mix. He said it had recently announced the National Hydrogen Mission in the Union Budget 2021 for making a hydrogen roadmap for the country. The Minister said, through technological advancements, India is blending hydrogen with compressed natural gas for use as transportation fuel as well as an industrial input to refineries. He said, 50 buses in Delhi are plying on blended hydrogen in Compressed Natural Gas on a pilot basis. Mr Pradhan added that the government is planning to scale it up in the coming months across the major cities of the country.

MPUVNL Invites Bids For Implementation of 41 MW Rooftop Solar Systems in Madhya Pradesh

he Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (MPUVNL) has invited bids to select solar developers to implement 41 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects at various locations in the state. The projects will be developed under the renewable energy service company (RESCO) model. The scope of work includes the design, engineering, supply, financing, installation, testing, and commissioning of 41 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects in the state, along with comprehensive maintenance for 25 years.

Union Minister Proposes Net Metering Benefits for Projects upto 500 KW

In a partial relief to the Indian rooftop solar industry, the union power ministry proposed to allow net metering benefits to solar projects having loads upto 500 KW.
The Ministry of Power has issued a draft amendment to Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Rules, 2020, which allows net metering for rooftop solar systems of loads up to 500 kW or up to the sanctioned load, whichever is lower and net billing (gross metering) or net feed-in for above 500 kW. The stakeholders can send their comments to the ministry by April 30, 2021 said Ministry of Power.
