Withstanding A Category 4 Hurricane, Trina Solar’s 670W Modules Shows Its Mettle

Trina Solar’s 210mm Vertex 670W modules have passed the extreme wind tunnel test, further confirming that ultra-high-power modules can maintain outstanding performance even when subject to extreme weather.

Trina Solar and third-party authoritative organization the China General Certification
Centre conducted the wind tunnel test on 210mm Vertex 670W dual-glass modules
(2.384×1.303m). The 210 Vertex 670W modules remained intact when the wind speed reached 62m/s (216km/h or 134 mph), equivalent to the low end of a Category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale.


The wind tunnel test results prove that 210mm Vertex modules not only generate
super high power but are also extremely reliable. Globalization of PV applications and diversification of scenarios have put higher demands on module performance, including in extreme weather such as strong winds, snowstorms and hailstorms.

To make the modules highly reliable, Trina Solar has optimized the module’s design by,
for example, increasing frame thickness and using material that have more structural
strength.

Besides the module itself, the mounting method is also critical to reliability. Cost-
effective screw installation is suitable for large-scale power stations; clamp installation is widely used in distributed rooftop applications, which supports rapid installation.
