MNRE Issues Updated List of Approved Solar Module Manufacturers

The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has updated the list of approved solar modules and domestic manufacturers (ALMMs) to include an additional 1,767 MW module capacity.

The government had earlier mandated that all solar projects bidding after April 10 under central government schemes would have to use equipment from ALMM-listed entities. The list currently includes only module-makers with a manufacturing base in the country.

With the latest addition, the total ALMM module manufacturing capacity currently stands at 10,819 MW.

The additional capacity has been included with Vikram Solar’s 972 MW; Pixon Green Energy 355 MW capacity, Alpex Solar 240 MW, Pahal Solar 100 MW , and 100 MW capacity of Novasys Greenergy.

On 10th of March MNRE had issued an all-Indian list of approved Solar PV modules and manufacturers to be used for its projects. Only the 23 manufacturers and their vetted modules included in the list was eligible for use in government and government-assisted projects, schemes, and programmes for projects bid-out on or after April 10, 2021, as per the notification.

Central Electronics Ltd., Patanjali, and Jakson were later added to the list.

Later in October the new additions were made – Himalayan Solar, Sun N Sand Exim, Insolation Energy, Pennar Industries, Green Brilliance Renewable Energy, Sanelite Solar, Gautam Solar, and Solarium Green Energy.
