Oman has launched a pilot project for water desalination through solar energy in partnership with Prosave, a Korean Company. This is the cooperation between Chang-Kyu Kim, Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea, and the Sultanate of Oman.
The Korean Ministry of Environment has sponsored the project, supported by KOTRA global green initiative and KISA, and will solve the water crisis in the Middle East region. The project is launched for the farms in North Al Batinah Governorate.
In the project, the water desalination system will generate electricity from solar energy. The system has photovoltaic panels connected to it which will save energy.
The inauguration was attended by farmers from Suwaiq and neighbouring areas, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Agricultural Association, a number of officials from the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources, several officials from the Embassy of South Korea in the Sultanate, and the from the Korean Company Prosave, the company executing the project.
