Egypt’s Smart Paper for paper industries has partnered with EPC – Gree Solar and Empower of Norway for constructing a rooftop solar power plant of 4.5 MW capacity. The partnership will install solar panels on the factory roof of the company. This is the fourth project of Empower in Egypt.
Vice-Chairperson of Gree Solar Nick Blashill said that with these projects, the company in partnership with Empower is saving money and ensuring a sustainable environment for its customers.
Once completed, the plant will generate around 8 GW per hour of clean energy every year and will decrease carbon emissions by 5,000 tonnes.
Terje Osmundsen, the founder and CEO of Empower, said, “We are proud of and committed to collaborating with innovative companies like Smart Paper to deliver high-quality, environmentally sustainable, and cost-effective renewable energy projects in Egypt.”
Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed, the CEO of the Smart Paper Group said that the goal of the company is to add value to society through innovative solutions and create new jobs. The company also plans to undertake more solar energy projects.
The company signed a PPA of 25 years for developing a 4.5 MW capacity of the rooftop solar plant. Egypt plans to have 42% of solar energy by 2035 and reduce its carbon footprints.
