The Punjab government will take comprehensive measures to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the new and renewable energy sector in Punjab, according to Aman Arora, newly appointed Minister for New and Renewable Energy.
As he presided over the Punjab Energy Development Agency’s (PEDA) first meeting, he stated that the government headed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Sing Mann is committed to creating a conducive environment and boosting conventional energy sources.
Further, the minister directed officers to work on projects related to new energy sources like solar, biomass and hydel, as well as ensuring that their publicisation is at the highest possible level.
The minister called pollution a global problem and stressed that everyone has a responsibility to make sure the environment is clean and pollute-free for future generations.
Arora stated, “Even UN is placing emphasis on this issue and all countries will concentrate their energies on that,”
He directed the departmental officiers to explore ways for establishing new projects of renewable energy and to prepare a detailed report in this regards.
