SUSI Partners Acquires Controlling Stake in Encore Renewable Energy to Boost U.S. Clean Energy Growth

SUSI Partners, a prominent sustainable infrastructure investment firm, has acquired a controlling equity stake in Encore Renewable Energy, a leading U.S. clean energy company specializing in solar PV and battery storage projects. This strategic investment reflects the growing momentum of the clean energy sector in the United States. SUSI’s injection of additional equity will enable Encore to transition from a project developer to an independent power producer, scaling its operations and reinforcing its asset portfolio.

With its headquarters in Vermont and a strong presence across the northeastern U.S., Encore has a proven track record of originating, developing, and constructing high-quality clean energy projects. The company’s commitment to sustainable growth, environmental compatibility, and community engagement aligns with SUSI’s sustainability objectives. Encore’s expertise in the redevelopment of abandoned brownfield sites further enhances its environmental impact, streamlined permitting, and revitalization of local communities.

This investment marks SUSI’s continued expansion in the thriving U.S. clean energy sector, following previous investments in battery storage and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. It is the second investment for SUSI’s flagship equity strategy, SUSI Energy Transition Fund (SETF), in the U.S., following the acquisition of a 100 MW front-of-the-meter battery storage portfolio in South Texas. SETF focuses on advancing asset investment platforms and management-led businesses to accelerate the energy transition.

The investment in Encore contributes to SETF’s diverse portfolio, encompassing renewable energy production, energy efficiency, energy storage, and integrated customer energy solutions across Europe, the U.S., Chile, and Australia. Given the ongoing progress and promising investment opportunities, SUSI plans to expand SETF’s capital base in 2023.

This strategic partnership between SUSI Partners and Encore Renewable Energy reinforces their shared commitment to driving sustainable energy solutions and supporting the clean energy transition in the United States.
