DoGo Power Enters Mali With Grid-Forming Energy Storage Solutions

DoGo Power has expanded its operations into Mali, introducing grid-forming energy storage solutions designed for commercial and industrial (C&I) applications and utility-scale power stations. The company said the move is part of its long-term strategy to support local energy development, improve electricity access and accelerate Mali’s transition toward cleaner and more reliable power systems.

Mali continues to face significant electricity supply challenges. National electrification coverage remains below 50%, while rural access is below 30%. More than 80% of the country’s electricity generation reportedly depends on diesel fuel, increasing power generation costs and exposure to fuel price fluctuations. Frequent outages and grid instability have also created challenges for businesses, industries and communities.

At the same time, Mali has strong potential for renewable energy development due to its high solar irradiation. The country receives more than 3,000 hours of sunshine annually, creating favorable conditions for solar-plus-storage projects.

DoGo Power’s grid-forming energy storage systems are designed to address the requirements of weak-grid and off-grid environments. The solutions can provide backup power for critical loads during grid fluctuations and outages. They can also be integrated into PV-storage-diesel hybrid systems, helping reduce diesel consumption while increasing the use of renewable electricity.

The company said its solutions have been adapted to Mali’s local grid conditions and are intended to support different energy applications. By combining solar generation with energy storage and existing diesel generation, power users can improve electricity reliability while gradually reducing dependence on conventional fuel-based generation.

As part of its expansion, DoGo Power plans to work with local industry partners and establish service and technical support capabilities in Mali. These local teams are expected to provide support across solution customization, project delivery, commissioning and operation and maintenance.

The company has already begun the market entry process, with its first batch of products arriving at a local port. DoGo Power said it will continue expanding its presence in Mali and other African markets.

The company aims to use its energy storage technology and manufacturing capabilities to develop solutions tailored to local requirements. Through increased localization and technical support, DoGo Power intends to contribute to a more stable, cleaner and inclusive electricity system while supporting Mali’s broader energy transition.
