Maynilad Water Services Inc. has unveiled plans to expand its solar portfolio and secure renewable energy supply in the coming years. The company aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2027.
Maynilad intends to add another one-megawatt solar plant to its facilities, in addition to the existing two-megawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) solar farm.
By bidding out a total capacity of at least one megawatt, the company seeks to enhance its renewable energy generation capabilities. While Maynilad will continue investing in renewable energy infrastructure, it will primarily focus on purchasing renewable energy power to meet its facilities needs.
The transition to renewable energy procurement is scheduled to commence next year, with a target of sourcing five to ten per cent of its power requirements from renewables. By 2037, Maynilad plans to rely on renewables for 35 to 50 per cent of its power, aligning with the Department of Energy’s renewable energy roadmap.
