Iran and Pakistan jointly inaugurated a border market and an electricity transmission line, marking a significant milestone in their bilateral relations.
The Mand-Pishin Border Sustenance Marketplace, located in Pishin, Iran, and Mand, Pakistan, was opened as part of a broader agreement between the two countries.
The market, spanning 10 acres of land, aims to enhance cross-border trade and create new opportunities for local businesses. Additionally, the Polan-Gabd Electricity Transmission Line was launched, enabling the transfer of an additional 100MW of electricity from Iran to Pakistan.
This transmission line will supplement the power supply to the border Makran region, addressing the energy needs of households and businesses in Balochistan.
The joint initiatives were inaugurated by Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by high-level officials from both nations.
The developments hold strategic importance, with Polan and Gabd situated in key locations along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route.
