Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has announced an open invitation for bids to establish and operationalize 2 MW grid-connected solar power projects. These projects will be strategically located across various coal mines under OMC’s purview. The initiative encompasses two distinct categories: ground-mounted installations and rooftop installations, both contributing to the overall solar capacity.
The projects consist of a combined capacity of 1.61 MW for ground-mounted solar systems exceeding 100 kWp and 390 kW for both ground-mounted and rooftop solar systems below 100 kWp capacity. The chosen bidder will be entrusted with not only the installation and commissioning responsibilities but also the operation and maintenance (O&M) obligations for a decade.
The deadline for bid submissions has been set for September 21, 2023, with the bids set to be unveiled on the same day. As per the requirements, interested bidders seeking capacities greater than 100 kWp must provide an earnest money deposit (EMD) of ₹51 Lacs, while those vying for capacities less than 100 kWp must furnish ₹5 Lacs as EMD.
Additionally, a performance security equivalent to 10% of the total contract value is mandatory. For qualification in the bidding process, the criteria vary based on capacity and type. Bidders for ground-mounted projects exceeding 100 kWp need to demonstrate their experience in executing similar projects meeting specific capacity thresholds over the past five fiscal years.
This move by OMC marks a significant step towards harnessing solar energy at mining sites, aligning with the growing global emphasis on sustainable practices and renewable energy adoption.
