Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has extended an Expression of Interest (EoI), initially published on August 5, 2023, through their website http://www.bhel.com. This EoI is directed towards Renewable Energy Developers, seeking their interest in supplying 90 million units (KWhr) of RE-RTC power annually to BHEL’s facilities at Haridwar (54 million units), Bhopal (12 million units), Trichy (12 million units), and Hyderabad (12 million units) on a long-term basis.
The deadline for receiving proposals in response to this EoI has been extended to September 30, 2023. Interested prospective collaborators are required to ensure that their responses, including the requested details as outlined in the annexures of the EoI, are submitted to BHEL by this date. All other terms and conditions specified in the EoI remain unchanged.
BHEL’s annual power requirements at the mentioned locations may be reviewed each year, with a potential variation of up to 10% in the requirement. Applicants are expected to provide details of commercially operational RE-RTC generating plants or those expected to be commissioned by June 2025.
The prospective partner must declare their guaranteed annual power supply, which will be calculated yearly from April 1st to March 31st of the following year. An annual variation of up to +/- 10% in the declared guaranteed annual power is acceptable to BHEL. Any excess power above 110% of the declared guarantee can be freely sold to other entities. However, if the power supply falls below 90% of the declared guarantee, the partner may be liable for compensation, except in cases of grid non-availability for evacuation beyond their control, as certified by relevant authorities. The compensation will be calculated at four times (400%) the cost shortfall in energy terms, based on the applicable tariff for the subsequent financial year’s first month.
This initiative by BHEL reflects its commitment to procuring renewable energy and promoting sustainability within its operations.
