To accelerate private sector action at the pace and scale needed to deliver on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and meet the 2030 Agenda, Astronergy, a pioneer in n-type TOPCon PV modules, joined the Forward Faster initiative called by UN Global Compact (UNGC) recently on committing three key issues related to gender equality, climate action and living wage.
The UN Global Compact Forward Faster initiative calls on business leaders everywhere to take measurable, credible and ambitious action in areas that have the power to accelerate progress across all 17 SDGs where the private sector can collectively make the biggest, fastest impact by 2030.
The SDG Progress Report released earlier this year by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, showed that just 15 percent of the Sustainable Development Goal targets are on track, progress on 48 percent is weak and insufficient, and progress has stalled or
gone into reverse on 37 percent of the SDGs.
“Astronergy is a main player in the green energy industry. And as a TOP Tier 1 module supplier worldwide, we need to shoulder the social responsibilities for a better and greener world”, said Haiyan Huang, CVP&CSO at Astronergy. In this year, Astronergy announced its Sustainability Strategy and claimed to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, it is one of our firm steps to contribute to the SDGs, Haiyang Huang added.
The Forward Faster initiative focuses on five action areas: Gender Equality, Climate Action, Living Wages, Water Resilience, and Finance and investment. Astronergy has committed to 3 detailed targets in 3 action areas. One of these actions is to promote gender equality to achieve equal representation, participation and leadership across all levels of management by 2030 in the company. The other two are related to climate action and living wages.
For a greener world is not only a slogan of Astronergy, but an action call for others to join it to do more for our planet.
