Düsseldorf-based MEC Group GmbH has acquired a 51% majority stake in rooftop PV developer EnergieSun, headquartered in Osnabrück, expanding its renewable energy portfolio to include rooftop solar systems, air heat pumps, battery storage, and charging stations. Capcora served as the exclusive M&A advisor for EnergieSun’s shareholders, with both parties agreeing to keep transaction details confidential.

EnergieSun, a leading German company in rooftop photovoltaic installations initially focused on private customers, now offers a wide range of services from small to several MWp systems. Alongside rooftop PV, the company provides energy services like air source heat pumps, battery storage, and charging stations. With a dedicated team of approximately 60 employees, EnergieSun executes installations using its specialized staff and established subcontractors, managing up to 200 rooftop systems monthly at its peak.

The company’s significant growth prompted the search for a co-investor to enhance professionalization. The MEC Group, chosen due to its strategic alignment and extensive experience in project management, digitalization, and renewable energies, emerged as the ideal partner.
