During the recently concluded COP28 in Dubai, Africa50, an investment platform, entered into an agreement with Amea Power, an independent power producer (IPP) based in Dubai, to collaboratively develop solar photovoltaic power plants in multiple African nations.
The partnership aims to co-invest in Senegal, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Togo, and Chad to support the continent’s energy transition goals.
Africa50, established by the African Development Bank and African governments, plays a pivotal role in financing energy projects in Africa, including the 1,650 MWp Benban solar complex in Egypt.
Amea Power, led by Hussain Alnowais, is actively involved in solar projects across Africa, with ongoing initiatives in Togo, Tunisia, and Burkina Faso, and negotiations for concessions in several other African countries.
The collaboration reflects their commitment to contribute to the global objective of tripling renewable energy capacity, especially in Africa.
