Qcells, a prominent provider of comprehensive clean energy solutions in the U.S. residential and commercial sectors, has unveiled a groundbreaking partnership with SOLARCYCLE, a technology-driven solar recycling firm, to responsibly recycle decommissioned solar panels across the United States. This collaboration marks a significant milestone as the first of its kind between a leading solar manufacturer and an advanced solar recycler in the country.

The joint efforts of Qcells and SOLARCYCLE aim to expedite the realization of a circular, clean energy supply chain, fostering job creation and reducing dependence on imported raw materials vulnerable to supply chain disruptions.

Recycling materials from Qcells’ panels, including aluminum, silver, copper, silicon, and low-iron glass, will be reintegrated into the domestic supply chain to manufacture the next generation of clean energy products. Leveraging SOLARCYCLE’s patented technology, which extracts over 95% of the value in a solar panel moduleโ€”surpassing the industry standard of approximately 50%โ€”will significantly enhance resource efficiency.

Qcells, renowned for operating the largest silicon-based solar panel factory in the U.S. located in Dalton, Georgia, boasts a significant market presence with one in three rooftop solar panels in America bearing its brand. The company’s commitment to sustainability aligns with its mission to establish a circular clean energy economy.

Collaborating with SOLARCYCLE not only enables Qcells to recycle its own installed panels but also provides a reliable recycling solution for its customers. SOLARCYCLE’s expertise in demanufacturing Qcells’ panels ensures efficient recycling processes while supporting the transition towards a circular clean energy economy.

Qcells’ ambitious plans to invest over $2.5 billion in building a sustainable solar supply chain in the U.S. underscores its dedication to expanding production capacity and creating thousands of clean energy jobs by 2024.

SOLARCYCLE, with facilities in Odessa, Texas, and Mesa, Arizona, and long-term partnerships with major solar energy companies nationwide, is poised for substantial growth. The company’s commitment to creating high-quality jobs reflects its vision to meet the increasing demand for domestic supply chains and advanced recycling technologies.

This partnership signifies Qcells’ ongoing commitment to sustainability by facilitating efficient and high-value recycling of solar panels, contributing to resource conservation and waste reduction.

The collaboration between Qcells and SOLARCYCLE signifies a pivotal step towards closing the loop on the solar circular economy, ensuring that solar energy production and recycling occur domestically, bolstering American labor and sustainable practices.
