Wilson Chang Appointed CEO of Sunrock Distribution Generation, Leading Expansion of Solar Solutions in the U.S

Sunrock Distribution Generation, a prominent commercial solar and distributed generation developer and asset manager, has named Wilson Chang, co-founder of Sunlight Financial, as its Chief Executive Officer. With nearly two decades of experience in financing and building clean energy and technology companies, Chang will lead Sunrock’s expansion strategy in the United States by enhancing its new project pipeline and forging funding partnerships.

Previously serving as a Partner and Managing Director at Hudson Sustainable Group, Chang co-launched Sunlight Financial, a leading residential solar financing platform. He played a key role in scaling Sunlight Financial’s funding network, which included launching its inaugural rated securitization and guiding it through private equity acquisition and subsequent public offering in 2021. Chang later co-founded Sunstone Credit, focusing on underwriting unrated commercial solar credit to facilitate more financing within the commercial solar industry.

Sunrock aims to streamline the transition to solar and clean energy solutions for businesses, non-profits, and educational institutions in local communities. By collaborating closely with local partners, Sunrock offers solar power purchase agreements and leases to customers. The company works with a network of over 400 experienced commercial solar installer and developer partners across the U.S., ensuring access to top-quality and efficient EPC expertise nationwide.

Having secured initial financing from Greenbacker Capital Management, a leading asset manager specializing in sustainable infrastructure investments, Sunrock is poised for growth. With approximately $3.6 billion of assets under management and 3.3GW of renewable energy assets, Greenbacker is a recognized leader in green energy investment.
