During the World Future Energy Summit 2024, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) partnered with the Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East to host a joint session. The session aimed to delve into the latest advancements in the field, exchange experiences, and share best practices.

Bringing together a diverse array of stakeholders, including specialized water desalination companies, local and federal government departments, electricity and water utilities, academic institutions such as Khalifa University, Sharjah University, and New York University Abu Dhabi, alongside numerous Japanese companies and universities, the session fostered discussions on bolstering cooperation.

The participants explored avenues to enhance collaboration between the UAE and Japan, with a focus on improving energy efficiency, advancing renewable energy deployment, and leveraging cutting-edge desalination technologies. Additionally, they spotlighted the UAE’s pioneering desalination projects and innovative smart management technologies that align with the UAE Water Security Strategy 2036.

His Excellency Eng Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity, Water, and Future Energy Sector at MoEI, graced the session with his presence. He lauded the longstanding relations between the UAE and Japan, which have flourished in recent years due to a shared vision and mutual trust.

Reflecting on the significance of the gathering, His Excellency Eng Al Kaabi remarked, “The water projects in the UAE are geared towards fulfilling the needs of various regions amid the continuous population growth. Such meetings underscore the joint commitment of both nations to broaden the scope of their cooperation.”
