Harsh Baweja has assumed the role of Director (Finance) at REC Limited following approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on May 10, 2024. His appointment comes after a thorough selection process conducted by the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB), which identified him as the top candidate among 11 contenders.
A seasoned Chartered Accountant, Shri Baweja brings over 33 years of extensive experience in managing financial and business operations across various institutions. His proven track record in navigating complex financial landscapes underscores his capability for this significant role.
Previously serving as Executive Director of Finance at REC, Shri Baweja adeptly managed the organization through numerous financial challenges, showcasing a deep understanding of both state and private sector financing. His distinguished career also includes overseeing REC’s key business offices in strategic locations across India.
Shri Baweja’s profound understanding of the energy sector’s financial intricacies has been instrumental in driving REC’s growth and enhancing its financial performance. Notably, his strategic initiatives have been pivotal in addressing the challenges posed by stressed assets, significantly contributing to REC’s goal of achieving a Net Zero NPA status by the end of the current fiscal year. He has also focused on diversifying the financing portfolio with a keen emphasis on the renewable sector.
Upon his appointment, Shri Baweja expressed his vision, stating, “My focus will remain steadfast on securing low-cost borrowing, driving healthy growth for all stakeholders, and positioning REC as a frontrunner in renewable energy financing with zero NPA by fiscal year end.”
