Iberdrola and Bayer have extended their partnership with an 11-year green power purchase agreement (PPA) in Italy, starting in January 2025, totaling 33 GWh. This agreement enhances their international alliance, complementing existing agreements in Spain and Mexico, and promotes sustainable energy consumption. Bayer’s Garbagnate plant in Milan will rely solely on renewable electricity, underscoring the pharmaceutical company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
The energy will be produced by the Montefiascone photovoltaic plant in Lazio, Iberdrola’s second solar plant in Italy, with a total installed capacity of 7 MW. Once operational, the plant will prevent over 3,200 tonnes of CO2 emissions, equivalent to the electricity demand of more than 4,000 homes.
Iberdrola is committed to developing strategies and solutions for industrial decarbonization through renewable energy and the promotion of self-consumption, reducing environmental impact. With the inauguration of its second plant and the completion of authorized photovoltaic projects, Iberdrola aims to achieve an operational capacity of 400 MW in Italy by 2025.
