DEWA Welcomes a High Level Delegation from the Dominican Republic

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recently hosted a significant delegation from the Dominican Republic, led by Rafael Orlando Gómez Del Giudice, Vice Minister of Energy. The visit was aimed at familiarizing the delegation with DEWA’s pioneering sustainability projects and initiatives in clean and renewable energy. It also served as an opportunity for the delegation to learn from DEWA’s expertise as a global leader in utility services.

DEWA has garnered international acclaim for its outstanding performance across various key performance indicators (KPIs) in the energy and water sectors. A recent study by a specialized international consultant recognized DEWA for setting unprecedented global standards, securing top positions in more than 10 KPIs relevant to its operations.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, emphasized the utility’s commitment to sharing its successful practices with global counterparts to foster cooperation and achieve a greener and more sustainable future. He highlighted DEWA’s pivotal role in advancing the UAE Net Zero Strategy 2050, Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, aiming for 100% energy production from clean sources by 2050.

During their visit, the delegation toured DEWA’s iconic Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, recognized as the world’s largest single-site solar park based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, with plans to achieve over 5,000MW capacity by 2030. They also explored DEWA’s pioneering Green Hydrogen Project at the Solar Park, the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region, focusing on hydrogen production powered by solar energy.

The delegation was also introduced to DEWA’s Innovation Centre, accompanied by Dr. Aaesha Alnuaimi, Director of the Innovation Centre, who showcased over 30 interactive exhibits highlighting advancements in renewable energy. The Innovation Centre serves as a global hub for innovation in clean and renewable energy technologies.

Impressed by DEWA’s ambitious projects, the delegation commended the Innovation Centre’s role as a catalyst for innovation in clean energy, underscoring DEWA’s commitment to advancing sustainable practices and global energy transformation efforts.
