Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer Visits DEWA’s Innovation Centre to Review Progress and Future Plans

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), recently visited DEWA’s Innovation Centre to review its achievements and future plans in visitor engagement, strategic collaborations, and professional training programs. Accompanied by Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence, and other DEWA officials, Al Tayer received a comprehensive briefing from Dr. Aaesha Abdulla Alnuaimi, Director of the Innovation Centre.

The Innovation Centre has solidified its position as a hub for knowledge dissemination and professional development, focusing on advancing sustainability, renewable energy, and innovation in Dubai. Al Tayer praised the Centre’s contributions to sustainability and innovation, emphasizing its role in educating and inspiring future generations. The Centre has attracted thousands of visitors, including students and high-level delegations, bolstering Dubai’s environmental education efforts.

Key initiatives highlighted during the visit included the training and certification of over 120 professionals in sustainability and renewable energy, with upcoming sessions planned in sustainability, innovation, digital transformation, and renewable energy. The Centre’s annual CleanTech Youth program has already graduated 75 students across three cycles, with a fourth planned for 2024, aimed at preparing young Emiratis for careers in clean energy.

In fostering innovation, the Centre organized the CleanTech Hackathon, which saw participation from 50 students representing 20 universities and 25 countries, highlighting global interest in Dubai’s clean energy initiatives. Additionally, a cleantech innovators exhibition showcased advancements from 15 companies, drawing 1,500 visitors and promoting collaboration among local and international experts.

Further promoting knowledge sharing, DEWA’s Innovation Centre hosted the Cleantech Connect Programme, facilitating discussions and workshops among clean energy innovators, researchers, and industry leaders in partnership with local and international universities, startups, and companies.
