Jordan’s Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh Promotes Arab-Japan Cooperation On Green Energy And Tech Innovation

Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, reaffirmed the commitment to enhancing economic and social cooperation between Arab nations and Japan during the opening of the Fifth Japanese-Arab Economic Forum. Representing the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which is currently chairing the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States, Al-Kharabsheh delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the historical and ongoing collaboration between the Arab world and Japan.

In his speech, Al-Kharabsheh underscored the forum’s focus on energy transition and environmental sustainability, highlighting these areas as crucial for addressing today’s global challenges. He described the shift to sustainable energy sources, the adoption of green technology, and environmental preservation as both strategic and moral imperatives for ensuring the well-being of future generations.

Al-Kharabsheh also addressed the transformative role of technological advancements, including artificial intelligence and digital transformation, in revolutionizing the energy sector. He stressed that these innovations are key to achieving more sustainable energy practices and enhancing environmental stewardship.

Looking to the future, Al-Kharabsheh expressed optimism about the opportunities for further collaboration between Japan and Arab nations. He anticipated that the discussions and cooperation during the forum would lead to strengthened ties, inspire new initiatives, and promote projects that benefit both societies and the environment.

The Fifth Japanese-Arab Economic Forum, held in Tokyo on July 10-11, 2024, is a significant event organized by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in cooperation with Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), and the Japanese External Trade Organization (JETRO). The forum, established under a memorandum of cooperation signed in 2009, serves as a platform for dialogue and aims to enhance economic relations through cooperation in trade, investment, energy, technology, and human resources development.

The forum’s agenda includes discussions on energy security, digital infrastructure, innovation, and sustainable economic development.
