AMEA Power has announced a major milestone for its 24 MWp solar power plant in Uganda’s West Nile region, with the project now energized and generating clean electricity for the national grid.
The project’s 25 MVA, 132/33 kV substation has been successfully energized, enabling early power generation as the facility moves toward Commercial Operations. The development is expected to contribute to Uganda’s renewable energy capacity while improving electricity supply and grid reliability in the West Nile region.
The solar plant will provide clean and reliable electricity to support growing energy demand and regional economic development. The project is also expected to play a role in supporting industrialisation ambitions across West Nile by improving access to sustainable power.
AMEA Power said the milestone represents important progress toward delivering renewable energy infrastructure that can strengthen Uganda’s electricity system and support long-term economic growth in the region.
