TurningPoint Energy (TPE) and Nexamp have announced a new collaboration to expand clean energy access through two community solar projects totaling nine megawatts (9MW) in Delawareโs New Castle and Sussex counties. Set for completion in 2025, this community solar portfolio demonstrates TPEโs commitment to investing over $100 million in Delaware’s community solar market. TPE developed the projects under Delawareโs community solar program, while Nexamp will build, own, and operate them long-term.
Delmarva Power customers in Delaware will have the opportunity to receive discounts on their electric bills, with 15% of each project’s capacity reserved for low-income customers. This initiative supports Delawareโs goal to reduce statewide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The two projects combined will generate 14,490,000 kWh annually, equivalent to taking 2,409 gas-powered cars off the road. Over 1,080 residential Delmarva Power Delaware customers will be able to subscribe to the projects, benefiting from a 15% savings on their electric bills through Nexampโs community solar program, which requires no sign-up fees, long-term commitments, or equipment installation.
โWe are thrilled to see this second portfolio of projects built in Delaware with a trusted partner such as Nexamp,โ said Salar Naini, president of TurningPoint Energy. โThese projects are part of a larger portfolio we have been developing in the First State to support its renewable energy goals and expand access to the benefits of solar.โ
Delaware Senator Stephanie Hansen, Chair of the Senate Environment, Energy and Transportation Committee, commented, โIโm heartened to see continued progress on developing Delawareโs solar energy landscape, making it more accessible and affordable to a greater number of consumers. Solar energy is an important part of Delaware’s energy future and I am proud to serve alongside so many fellow legislators who share a commitment to expanding our renewable energy economy in Delaware and taking meaningful steps to combat climate change.โ
โNexamp and TurningPoint Energy have collaborated on several pioneering projects over the years and developed a strong relationship rooted in our shared commitment to thoughtful development practices in expanding access to affordable, reliable clean energy for local communities,โ said John Murphy, Chief Strategy Officer at Nexamp. โWeโre proud to partner with TPE once again to expand access to Nexampโs industry-leading community solar offering for residents and businesses across Delaware.โ
