During the inauguration on Wednesday, Jisman Hutajulu emphasized the vast potential of solar energy in Indonesia. “The inauguration of the 100 MWp Ground-Mounted PLTS is tangible proof that Indonesia has great potential in developing solar energy,” he stated. He highlighted the governmentโ€™s commitment to building electricity infrastructure that aligns with principles of justice, sustainability, and environmental awareness, aiming to meet national electricity needs efficiently and affordably.

Indonesia’s solar energy potential is estimated at an impressive 3,295 GW. However, only about 270 MW of this capacity has been utilized so far. “This underscores Indonesia’s opportunity to lead in the energy transition at both regional and global levels,” said Jisman. He added that strategic planning is essential to optimize the development of cleaner and more reliable electricity.

President Director of PT PLN (Persero), Darmawan Prasodjo, praised the rapid completion of the 100 MWp Ground-Mounted PLTS project, which was finished in just seven months. “This project represents collaboration among various stakeholders, all aiming to accelerate Indonesia’s journey towards net-zero emissions,” Darmawan remarked. He also noted that PLN cannot meet future energy needs alone and must continue accelerating the adoption of green energy.

Adi Dharmanto, President Director of PT Aruna Hijau Power, the project’s developer, shared details on the facilityโ€™s output and environmental benefits. The PLTS, comprising 160,000 solar panels, can generate 150 GWh of energy annually, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 118,725 tons of CO2. “By harnessing solar energy in Purwakarta, we are contributing significantly to reducing carbon footprints,” Adi said.

The project is a collaborative effort involving PT Aruna Cahaya Pratama (Aruna PV), PT PLN (Persero), PT Besland Pertiwi, and PLN Batam, with a significant contribution from PT Aruna Hijau Power, which holds an 80% share in the entity overseeing the project.

This development marks the first use of 630 Wp PV modules in Indonesia, featuring bifacial technology that enhances efficiency by capturing sunlight on both sides of the panels. The installation spans over 80 hectares across five different locations, making it the largest solar power installation in Indonesia to date.

The inauguration of the 100 MWp Ground-Mounted Solar Power Plant not only symbolizes a new era in Indonesia’s renewable energy efforts but also reinforces the country’s commitment to achieving a sustainable and green future.
