In a significant move toward sustainable development, the Telangana state government is turning its focus on Kongareddypalli village in the Nagarkurnool district to transform it into a model of 100% solar-powered habitation. This initiative is particularly notable as it aligns with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s vision, with the village being his place of origin.
Following the chief minister’s directive, a team of officials initiated an extensive survey of the village on Tuesday, visiting each household to assess energy usage and solar implementation potential. The project is being spearheaded by Southern Telangana Power Distribution Company, with CMD Musharraf Faruqui taking a hands-on role. Key officials such as Nagarkurnool District Collector B Santhosh, REDCO VC & MD Anila, and Director of Commercial K Ramulu also visited the village, highlighting the stateโs commitment to the initiative.
During their visit, officials engaged with local residents, including farmers and village leaders, explaining the benefits and logistics of the solar transition. Currently, Kongareddypalli houses 1,451 electricity consumers, consisting of 499 domestic, 66 commercial, and 867 agricultural consumers. The pilot project aims to convert these consumers to solar energy, marking the villageโs journey toward becoming a sustainable, solar-powered community.
