Al-Balili Water Well Powered By Solar Energy System Inaugurated In Al-Wahda District, Yemen

The Secretary of the Capital, Dr. Hamoud Obbad, inaugurated a solar energy system project for the Al-Balili water well in Al-Wahda District. Funded by the government at a cost of 50 million riyals, the project is expected to provide significant water and energy benefits to the local community.

During the opening ceremony, Dr. Obbad and the Director of the Al-Wahda District, Sami Hamid, were briefed by Engineer Muhammad Madaโ€™is, Director of the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation, on the project’s features. The installation includes a solar energy system capable of generating 166,800 kilowatts, along with an inverter unit for purification and iron treatment with a 160-kilowatt capacity.

The system will produce 360 cubic meters of water daily, benefiting over 25,000 residents across various neighborhoods in the region. The solar-powered well ensures a steady supply of clean water while promoting sustainability.

Dr. Obbad emphasized that the project aligns with efforts to expand water services in the Capital Secretariat and shift towards alternative energy sources, following the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council. He highlighted the government’s commitment to sustainable development and improving access to clean drinking water for citizens.

Several key officials, including engineers and representatives from the Water Corporation, attended the event, underscoring the importance of this initiative in supporting local infrastructure.
