Corvias Boosts Fort Riley’s Energy Resilience, Cuts Costs For U.S. Army

Corvias, a top provider of energy and infrastructure solutions, has completed Phase III of an energy security project at U.S. Army Garrison Fort Riley. This phase, done in partnership with Sunstone Energy Development and City, Light & Power, has been successfully operating for a month. The project aligns with the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DOD) mission to strengthen energy resilience and readiness.

As part of the DOD’s goal to power all critical military operations with self-sustaining energy by 2030, this phase introduced two solar PV arrays, which were connected in December. These arrays enhance energy security and stabilize electricity costs for Fort Riley’s housing communities. They now offset nearly 40% of the community’s annual electricity use and contribute to the $2 billion economic impact recently highlighted by Fort Riley’s Garrison Commander, Col. Jerry Nunziato.

Sunstone Energy Development, a joint venture between Corvias Solar Solutions and Onyx Renewables, has been delivering renewable energy solutions for Corvias Army housing for over a decade. Corvias’ innovative “Solutions Through Partnerships” model is designed to support the Department of Defense in maintaining mission readiness. The new solar installations add to two previous rooftop solar phases, making Fort Riley’s Corvias-led solar program one of the largest in Kansas.
