In a significant step toward a sustainable and resilient energy future, Sweden’s first hybrid solar park has been successfully launched in Halmstad. Sungrow, a leading global provider of renewable energy solutions, played a crucial role by supplying inverters and the Energy Storage System (ESS). By integrating photovoltaic (PV) technology with advanced ESS, this project showcases key advancements in renewable energy, grid stability, and efficiency.
Developed by Solarwork Sverige and Powerworks Energy, the hybrid solar park is set to generate over 7,000 MWh of clean electricity annually, ensuring peak energy production when it is most needed. Sungrow’s solutions, including both PV inverters and the PowerTitan 1.0 Energy Storage System, underline the company’s commitment to providing efficient, comprehensive energy solutions.
A Vision for Sustainable Energy
The driving force behind this ambitious project was the need for cost-effective, on-demand energy generation. Mr. Carl Kuylenstierna, CEO of Sperlingsholms Gods, the plant’s owner, stated that the investment in the solar park was driven by the belief in the societal need for sustainable energy. He emphasized that the plant generates electricity when it is most needed, during midday, at a low marginal cost.
The 6.6MWp PV installation consists of 11,928 bifacial 550 Wp PV modules mounted on a ground structure. The majority of the solar output is converted by 20 units of the Sungrow SG250HX string inverters, known for their high efficiency and seamless compatibility with bifacial modules.
Energy Storage Enhancing Efficiency and Grid Support
To enhance energy efficiency and grid support, the plant integrates 4MW / 4.4 MWh of battery storage with Sungrow’s PowerTitan 1.0 solution. Fredrik Lyckvind, CSO at Powerworks Energy, praised Sungrow’s technology for its market leadership and suitability for the Nordic climate. He noted that the PowerTitan 1.0’s 1C system enables rapid charging and discharging, while its liquid-cooling technology reduces costs and ensures system stability.
Seamless Installation & Advanced Technology
The installation of Sungrow’s inverters and PowerTitan system was completed efficiently, meeting strict timelines and minimizing downtime. Fredrik Liljehov, Head of Utility at Solarwork Sverige, noted that the project, one of Sweden’s first hybrid solar parks, includes nearly 12,000 panels and 20 SG250HX inverters, selected for their capacity to handle large energy loads and flexibility in installation.
Raphael Henkel, Regional Manager of Sweden and Finland at Sungrow, praised the project’s completion as a testament to the growing demand for integrated PV and ESS solutions. He highlighted Sungrow’s commitment to high-performance technology that supports grid stability and renewable energy deployment, noting that the Sperlingsholms Gods project showcases how hybrid solar and storage solutions drive the clean energy transition.
As Sweden moves toward a greener energy landscape, the Halmstad hybrid solar park sets a new benchmark for renewable energy projects, showcasing the power of combining solar energy with intelligent storage solutions to create a cleaner and more resilient grid, a concept perfectly aligned with Sungrow’s mission, Clean power for all.
