JSW Neo Energy, a subsidiary of JSW Energy, has successfully acquired Virya Infrapower Pvt. Ltd. for ₹7.54 crore, reinforcing its commitment to expanding renewable energy capacity. The acquisition provides JSW Neo Energy access to a well-prepared renewable power site, allowing for quicker execution of green energy projects.
In an official filing, JSW Energy confirmed that 100% of Virya Infrapower’s shares have been acquired, making it a step-down subsidiary of JSW Energy. This move aligns with the company’s long-term goal of increasing its clean energy footprint while accelerating the development of solar and wind projects. Despite being in operation since 2014, Virya Infrapower has not generated revenue in recent years, making this acquisition a strategic opportunity for JSW Neo Energy to optimize the site for renewable energy production.
JSW Energy has been actively expanding its energy portfolio through strategic acquisitions. In January 2025, the company acquired 125 MW of wind power assets from Hetero Group for ₹630 crore. In December 2024, it signed an agreement to purchase O2 Power’s renewable platform, adding 4,696 MW of capacity for ₹12,468 crore. Additionally, earlier this year, JSW Energy completed the ₹16,084 crore acquisition of KSK Mahanadi Power Company Ltd., adding 1,800 MW of thermal power to its portfolio.
As a leading power producer in India, JSW Energy currently manages a diverse energy portfolio exceeding 13 GW, including thermal, hydro, wind, and solar power. The company aims to achieve 20 GW of power generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage before 2030, reinforcing its commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
