Tata Power, one of Indiaโ€™s largest integrated power companies, has achieved a significant milestone by being officially recognized as a Dual Awarding Body (AB-Dual) under the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET). This accreditation empowers Tata Power to assess, certify, and award qualifications to learners trained at its Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI). As a premier skilling institution backed by Tata Power, TPSDI has been playing a crucial role in preparing young professionals for careers in the rapidly evolving energy sector.

The agreement formalizing this recognition was signed by Mr. Alok Prasad (Head – TPSDI) on behalf of Tata Power and Col. Gunjan Chowdhary (Director – NCVET) on behalf of NCVET. The signing took place in the presence of Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari (Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Chairperson, NCVET) and Mr. Himal Tewari (President – Group HR, CHRO, Chief – Sustainability & CSR). This recognition aligns with the Skill India Mission and Tata Powerโ€™s broader commitment to bridging the skill gap in the power industry.

With NCVET accreditation, TPSDI will be able to expand its training programs and certify individuals in critical areas such as rooftop solar installations, energy storage, green hydrogen, and pumped hydrosโ€”domains that are integral to Indiaโ€™s transition to clean energy. To support this initiative, Tata Power is set to enhance its training infrastructure, ensuring that skilling programs remain industry-relevant and accessible across the country.

TPSDI, which has already trained over three lakh individuals, will now be authorized to directly issue industry-recognized certifications for its approved courses across its owned or fully managed campuses. This development significantly enhances the credibility of TPSDI-certified professionals, improving their employability and helping build a skilled workforce for India’s green energy future.

The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), operating under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), serves as the national regulator for vocational education and training. NCVET is responsible for setting industry standards, formulating regulations, and overseeing the accreditation of awarding bodies and assessment agencies to ensure high-quality skill development across the country.

As we look ahead, our focus remains on expanding our reach and impact, developing expertise in future-forward domains, and contributing meaningfully to Indiaโ€™s vision of a sustainable, self-reliant energy future.โ€

As green jobs gain prominence, TPSDI will focus on training professionals in emerging energy sectors, including solar and wind energy, energy storage, grid modernization, and sustainable power solutions. This initiative strengthens Tata Powerโ€™s role as a leader in industry-aligned skill development, equipping professionals with hands-on expertise needed in the energy transition. Through this effort, Tata Power continues to support workforce development, nation-building, and the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, contributing to India’s journey towards a self-reliant and sustainable future.
