Israeli renewable energy developer Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd. has announced plans to invest up to USD 1.1 billion (EUR 1.02 billion) in a groundbreaking integrated data centre and renewable energy complex in Ashalim, located in southern Israel. This investment follows the companyโ€™s successful bid in the countryโ€™s first-ever land tender for the development of such a project.

Enlight has secured a 50-acre plot under the Israel Land Authority (ILA) tender, where it will establish a complex that will include a state-of-the-art data centre, a solar power plant, and an energy storage facility. The site will be designed to handle an impressive 100 MW of hourly consumption capacity.

The solar and energy storage systems will be positioned alongside the data centre, playing a crucial role in supplying a portion of the complexโ€™s electricity needs while significantly reducing operational costs.

This project marks a significant step forward in the integration of renewable energy solutions with data infrastructure, aligning with Israelโ€™s broader sustainability goals.
