Saudi Electricity Company Receives Bids for 380kV Substation and OHTL Projects

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has announced that it has received bids from leading utility firms for the construction of a 380kV substation at Mawqaq in the central region of Saudi Arabia, along with several Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) projects.

The new substation, named Mawqaq PV 380kV BSP, is being developed as part of Saudi Arabia’s upcoming Renewable Energy Projects, according to a statement from SEC.

TDP Selected for Substation Construction

Trading & Development Partnership (TDP) emerged as the lowest bidder for the construction of the 380kV substation, offering a bid valued at SAR 592 million ($158 million), SEC confirmed.

Alfanar Projects Chosen for OHTL

In addition to the substation, SEC is also progressing with multiple OHTL projects. For the 380kV OHTL project connecting Mawqaq PV 380kV BSP to the existing network, Alfanar Projects was selected based on its lowest bid of SAR 159.3 million ($42.3 million).

Project Awards Pending Evaluation

SEC stated that the awarding of these projects will be contingent on the successful evaluation of the bidders’ proposals.

Saudi Power Procurement Company Issues RFP for Sixth Renewable Energy Round

Meanwhile, Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the sixth round of renewable energy projects under the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), which is supervised by the Ministry of Energy. The combined capacity of these upcoming renewable energy projects is expected to reach 4,500 MW.
